<<< The refuge & intrusion themes (with their sexual connotations) are developed further in Campsite where the image evokes vulnerability and isolation. There is a violent motion to the painting that creates a sense of disruption. Shapes appear. The tent, or camp, form in the centre of the painting suggests exploration or adventure but also invokes the image of concealment and protection. The painting has a strong internal force that gives the interlocking pictorial elements an almost convulsive sense of movement.
